Students Participate in State Sport Stacking Competition
HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 26, 2008 -- Fourteen Westchester Country Day School students will travel to Monroe this Saturday to compete in the Carolina Sport Stacking Championship at Parkwood High School.
More than 350 stackers from approximately 15 schools across the state will race against the clock and each other in this sanctioned competition. Competitive events include Individual Timed Competition, "Doubles" and 4-Person Timed 3-6-3 Team Relays in a variety of divisions which include all ages. Stackers compete in the 3- 3-3, 3-6-3 and Cycle stacks. Those who place may have the opportunity to compete in the World Sport Stacking Championship this April in Denver.
Sport stacking is an exciting sport in which individuals and teams compete to stack and unstack 12 cups in predetermined sequences at lighting speed. Stackers race against the clock and compete in relays. This is Westchester's first trip to the competition, although Lower School PE teacher Tim Cook has been teaching the skill to his students for several years.
