Theatre at Westchester

Students have the opportunity to perform in or assist with up to three theatre productions each year at Westchester. Shows are selected with a variety of roles for all skill and experience levels. Preparations are truly a community effort. All of the set design and construction, costuming, makeup, lighting, concessions and backstage assistance is provided by parent, student and faculty/staff volunteers.

For performers, auditions are held 6-8 weeks prior to each show. Rehearsals take place after-school. There are also many opportunities to be involved with set construction, costuming and audio-visual production. Many of these roles, including sound, lighting and stage management, are student-led!

  • Fall Musical (Grades K-12) - Roles are available for students in all grade levels from beginner to advanced. The cast and company can be as large as 70-100 participants depending on the selected show. Recent productions have included "Seussical Jr.," "Disney's Moana Jr.," "Disney's The Little Mermaid Jr.," and "Willy Wonka Jr."
  • Upper School Production (Grades 9-12) - This production varies in size and style from year to year. Everything from dramas to comedies to ensemble musicals have been selected dependent upon those students who show interest. Recent productions have included "Taming of the Shrew/A Midsummer Night’s Dream," "Grease," and "Afraid of the Dark."
  • Spring Musical (Grades K-8) - Lower and Middle School students put on a full production designed for younger performers. These familiar childhood favorites have recently included selections based on the Magic Tree House book series, "Alice the Musical," and "Disney's The Aristocats Kids."
