WCDS School of Music
Westchester's School of Music program nurtures creativity, self-expression, intellectual development, teamwork, and self-confidence as students develop the skills to become proficient musicians.
Our extracurricular lessons are taught by experienced professionals and are offered at the beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels:
- Guitar
- Piano
- Voice
- Violin
Private lessons are offered in thirty-minute increments either during the school day or after school. Longer lessons may be available for more advanced students with instructor approval. Students in all divisions may participate, depending on the individual teacher’s policy.
Registration
Lessons are contracted for a semester at a time. Registration for private lessons opens in August and again in January for the start of the fall and spring semesters.
Instructors
Lessons are taught by experienced instructors on the WCDS campus or virtually. Read more about our School of Music faculty and their policies:

- Piano with Claire Clark
- Piano with Brandi Jacques
- Violin with Joyce Hamilton
- Voice with Jaime English
Performances
Live performances are an integral part of musical education. Opportunities to perform are scheduled throughout the year, and students are encouraged to participate. Teachers will communicate recital/performance dates with parents.
Parent Involvement
While not a requirement, we strongly encourage parent participation in music lessons with pre-K, K, and 1st grade students. It is the parent's responsibility to understand how and what to practice with their young child each day at home.
