Mr. Frank Morelli
Middle School English Teacher
Not every school is fortunate enough to have a working YA author on its faculty. Gratefully, Westchester’s students get the benefit of Mr. Morelli’s encouragement, enthusiasm and talent each day.
Mr. Morelli is recognized for his ability to see the best in everyone, and he can often be observed offering a smile, cheerful word or helping hand to colleagues and students alike. (We even hear he makes diagramming sentences fun!) He received Westchester’s Class of 2005 Award for embodying the kind of selfless one-on-one support, instruction, good humor and friendship that characterize our Westchester community at its very best.
A Philadelphia native, Mr. Morelli received a Bachelor of Arts in English and journalism from Albright College and a Master of Science in Education/English from CUNY-Queens College. His first novel, No Sad Songs (2018), was a YALSA Quick Picks for Reluctant Readers nominee and winner of an American Fiction Award for best coming of age story. His second book, Please Return To: Norbert M. Finkelstein (2019), was a Book Excellence Award finalist. His fiction and essays have been featured in various publications, including The Saturday Evening Post, Cobalt Review, Philadelphia Stories, and Highlights Magazine.
