Robotics Teams Advance to the World Championship
The robotics program at Westchester Country Day School continues its middle school success with two teams invited to the VEX IQ Challenge World Championship in Dallas, Texas, on May 8-10, 2022.
The teams received an invitation to the Worlds following an excellent performance at the NC VEX IQ State Championship on March 5.
The team of sixth graders Max Volynets, Luke Heybrock, Quinten Stofferis and eighth grader Lukas Stofferis (8th) led the way with a stunning second place finish in the state competition. Over the last two weeks, the team spent countless hours after school redesigning and programming their robot to better compete with the top teams in the state.
This team also received the VEX IQ Think Award, which is given to the team that exhibits the knowledge and understanding of the programming process and is able to clearly explain the programming strategy used to solve the game challenge.
The team of seventh graders Garrett Le, Pallavi Paruchuri, Wilson Caddy and Clinton Wagoner also garnered an invite to the Worlds with their top-10 performance in the state championship in combination with their current sixth place position in the NC VEX IQ Robot Skills rankings.
The team also received The Amaze Award. This award is given to the team that shows a consistently high-scoring, well-built robot that performs well in all areas of the competition.
Congratulations to both teams for their success this year. See you in Dallas!
