SADD Leads Red Ribbon Week Activities
Westchester’s SADD club (Students Against Destructive Decisions) participated in the national Red Ribbon Week (Oct. 23-31) by organizing several activities intended to encourage students to make healthy and smart decisions.
On Wednesday, the club handed out clothespins decorated with positive messages for Middle and Upper School students to share with one another to spread positivity. On Thursday, red ribbons were tied to the cars of student drivers to promote safe driving habits. On Friday, they handed out candy with the message, “Be a Smartie and stay drug free!”
The Upper School SADD members also shared the importance of making good decisions with younger students.
“SADD held several activities for raising awareness about the importance of a happy and healthy lifestyle,” said senior Caroline Clodfelter. “We had Upper School students going into fourth and fifth grade classrooms to talk about and promote healthy decisions when it comes to food, exercise and friendships.”
Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign organized by the National Family Partnership. The red ribbon has become a symbol in communities across the U.S. promoting youth education and encouraging participation in drug prevention activities.
