WCDS Celebrates the Graduation of the Class of 2022
Westchester Country Day School celebrated its 51st graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 4, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church in High Point.
The 34 graduates in the Class of 2022 achieved 100 percent college acceptance. They were accepted to 53 different colleges and universities and collectively were offered more than $4 million in college scholarships.
Westchester’s graduation includes several unique traditions, including a bagpipe processional and special presentations. As the graduates came forward to receive their diplomas, faculty members gave tribute speeches offering insight into their individual personalities and highlighting their growth as Westchester students.
During the ceremony, Valedictorian Sophia Singer highlighted the individual passions and talents of each of her classmates while comparing her class to a well-balanced machine.
“As an aspiring engineer, I can’t help but look at Westchester through an engineering lens,” she said. “Each one of us is an important gear or piston that allows the core components to keep running.”
The three co-salutatorians also shared remarks during the ceremony.
Kate Dyson represented her classmates in announcing the senior class gift of two benches in memory of Westchester community members who lost their lives during the school year, retired teacher assistant Judy Tomlinson and alumni sisters Kayla and Morgan Kushner '15.
