Dwon Clifton was inducted into the Westchester Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. While at Westchester, he earned the MVP award in basketball in 1999 and 2000, was Conference Player of the Year in 1999 and 2000, and earned Academic All-Conference in 1999 and 2000. He won the Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in 1999 and the Male Athlete of the Year Award in 2000. He was a member of the All-Northwest Team in 1999 and 2000, and was named NCISAA All-State and AP All-State in 1999 and 2000. In 2000, he was the Davidson and Guilford County Player of the Year, was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American, was named Prep’s Plus North Carolina Most Outstanding Player of the Year, and was runner-up in North Carolina’s Mr. Basketball competition. He was named to Bob Gibbons Top 100 Seniors in the USA in 2000, and was a state champion in 2000. Clifton received a basketball scholarship to Clemson University, where he played in 2001 and 2002, and moved to UNCG, where he played from 2003-2005. He went on to become a member of the Vila Pouca and Club Averio teams for the FIBA Professional League in 2005 and 2006, before being named assistant basketball coach at Baylor University.
