Christy Hedgpeth was inducted into the Westchester Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. She scored 3,131 career points for Westchester on the basketball court. She was the basketball MVP in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990, and was Conference Player of the Year in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990. She earned Academic All-Conference honors in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990, and won both the Female Athlete of the Year and Female Scholar Athlete of the Year awards in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990. She was the recipient of the Hathaway Sportsmanship Award in 1989, was named to Basketball All-State in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990, and was a Basketball State Champion in 1990. She was the Davidson and Guilford County Player of the Year in 1990, was the recipient of the 1990 Mary Garber Award, and was named to the AP All-State and News & Record All-State teams in 1990. She was a member of the All-Guilford and All-Northwest teams in 1988, 1989, and 1990.

A two-sport athlete, Hedgpeth was the tennis doubles state champion in 1988 and 1989, and the tennis MVP in 1987, 1988, 1989, and 1990.

Hedgpeth received a basketball scholarship to Stanford University, where she was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic Team in 1992, 1993, and 1994, and the All Pac-10 Team in 1994. She received Stanford’s Most Inspirational Player Award in 1994, and was a nominee for the ESPN ESPY Female Basketball Player of the Year in 1993. She played in the NCAA Basketball Final 4 in 1991 and 1992, and was an NCAA Basketball Champion in 1992. She went on to play for the Seattle Reign of the ABL from 1996-1999.
